Traditional Kashmiri tea Kahwa Recipe step by step


Ingredients:


  1. Water- 2 cups
  2. Cinnamon- 2 inches
  3. 2 green cardamoms.
  4. 2 cloves.
  5. 5-6 rose petals (dried).
  6. Sugar- 2 tablespoon 
  7.     Green tea leaves- 1 tablespoon
  8. Almonds- 4-5
  9. Saffron- 10-12 strands

The Brewing of Kahwa

In a brass kettle, boil green tea leaves. You can also use green tea packs. Instead of the samovar, one can also use a pan. Also, instead of boiling, one can steep leaves in boiling water for 5 minutes. Tea can even be bitter, steep well, be it black Tea or Green Tea. Once the flavor is released, boil for 2-3 minutes. For saffron, you can add it to the cup once Kahwa is ready. 


Step-by-Step Recipe of Traditional Kashmiri Kahwa


  1. Fill the pot halfway with water. Keep it at a medium temperature. 
  2. Take a bowl, and add spices (crushed) and dried rose petals. 
  3. Add sugar for taste.
  4. Keeping speed on medium, bring water to boil. 
  5. Turn off the stove. Take the pan off and add green tea to it. One can also use green tea packs. You can use green tea leaves as you like. 
  6. Cover the pot with a lid now. Let the green tea leaves steep in water and leave their flavor. 
  7. After 3 minutes, pour the tea into cups using a strainer. 
  8. Once you add Kawah to cups, add 3-4 saffron strands in each cup. 
  9. Serve hot. 

 

Note: You can add sweetener to the Tea or skip it. Try avoiding honey, as it can react with heat and be poisonous.
